Understanding how the match algorithm works will give you a leg up on the competition and give you an idea of how to best approach your swiping journey.
how does bumble algorithm work?
Just like other dating apps, Bumble hasn’t come out and stated exactly how the algorithm works.
There are solid theories, formed by many experts that have 100+ hours of testing
Currently everything out unless confirmed by bumble themselves is purely speculation
how does bumble decide who to show you
First off we recommend setting up your filters. This gives the algorithm an idea of how best to present you possible matches.
The more specific your filters are the higher chance of matching with someone you want.
Be specific if you can’t drive out 40 miles to meet for a coffee date then narrow that search radius. Don’t expect your match to go 93% to meet someone off the internet…

THE BEST PROFILES ARE SHOWN FIRST/Popularity
When swiping away, the best profiles are shown first. Typically these are the profiles that are having the most interaction on a given day.
There’s lots of debate to this theory. Many calling the apps superficial… Guess what to an extent it is.

Using these techniques will double your daily matches in no time.
Bumble Tip
BAD PICTURES = LESS MATCHES
Aside from the chance of a person swiping right dropping,
Blurry, Grainy, and Low Quality photos can penalize your profile and cause it to be shown less.
NEW PROFILES ARE ALSO SHOWN FIRSTNew Profile boost
One way Bumble determines how popular a profile is by showing it to a large amount of users. It then assigns it a base score.
To do that with a new profile, its shown to a large amount of profiles while still new.
This will give them all the information that they need to rank it.
Profile Reset can lead to matches
Often times its after a few weeks, if you are not matching it may be worth deleting your profile, creating a new profile uploading some fresh new pictures, as well tweaking your bio to “test” out what works and what doesn’t.
GIRLS WHO SWIPED RIGHT WILL BE SHOWN FIRST/Already Right Swiped You
Besides the most popular profiles showing up, the ones that have swiped right will also be shown in the front of the profile deck.
This is why you tend to get matches in the beginning of a swiping session, and immediately after the matches don’t occur as often if any.

Match Queue
You’ll know you’ve been swiped ahead of time by checking your conversation page and checking the Match Queue.

Once you get a match, you’ll need to get the conversation going.
If you get the dreaded “Hi” message, you need an opener to send your hot match.

Why activity leads to more matches
Another factor to getting your profile to the head of the pack is the last time you were active.
Currently within a 30 days window whether a person is active or not they will still be shown.
If you remain fairly active and log on daily, you have significantly better odds than someone who hasn’t logged on in a month.
INCOMPLETE PROFILE PHOTOS = LESS MATCHES
Along with poor quality images, profiles with less images, as well as incomplete bios tend to be shown to less.
Does bumble show you the same person twice?
If you’ve already swiped right on a person, then no it will filter out that person from you swipe queue.
Does bumble show you profiles that have already left swiped/rejected you
The algorithm will show users profiles that they have already left swiped on, just incase they changed their mind or made a mistake
Hence why you may also be shown users who may have swiped left on you in the past incase they would like to swipe right you the 2nd time around!
does bumble show inactive profiles
Every profile you swipe right or left on has at some point been active in the last 30 days.
Unfortunately, right now there is no way to narrow that down to a smaller time frame currently.
ALWAYS SWIPING RIGHT WILL GET YOUR PROFILE PENALIZED
Something we advise here on Pick Up Pro’s is NOT swiping right on every profile.. The algorithm will go ahead and penalizes your profile.
Would you swipe right on every girl you walk by in real life? Sure it’s not the same thing but being selective in these situations works in your favor..

bumble all caught up
If you’ve been swiping non stop for sometime, you’ll most likely have seen this message pop up before. *PIC*
If you have you’ve you’ve narrowed your search radius on your filters expanding your surrounding area will get you more profiles to swipe on,
Obviously the con to this is possibly finding a farther away date which can be a burden.
Another way to find more matches, is a change in location. Even if its a mile or two, Go for a walk or drive somewhere if you’re up to it. You will be presented with a few more profiles to select from.
To wrap it up
To sum it up…
These are all theorized with lots of testing done and evidence to back it.
