A classic dating website vs. the most popular swipe app.
What’s better for you?
In this guide I’ll be comparing OkCupid and Tinder
Ease of Use
With OkCupid, users have to fill out a lot more information for their profile. The profiles are much longer and there are questions that every user has to answer.
On the other hand, Tinder has a short profile. This allows users to be ready to go right away.
Both allow the user to add 9 images & connect their Instagram,
Attractiveness
The girls on Tinder are much more attractive. There are a few cute ones on OkCupid, but the majority are in the eh range.
This could be due to the amount of users on Tinder compared to OkCupid or the fact that okcupid is dying. More on that later though.
Users
Tinder is a much larger platform than OkCupid. It has a younger audience and more people are continuing to download it daily.
I don’t see Tinder stopping anytime soon.
On the other hand OkCupid has been going downhill.
Check out this Google trends chart.
It doesn’t look promising for OkCupid.
User Experience
Tinder hands down has the better UX. It’s simple and straight to the point.
Build a profile, swipe, and message.
Done.
Now OkCupid on the other hand….
You have doubletake, discovery, long bios with questions, swiping, messaging and more.
It’s all over the place.
You have to read a guide to actually learn how to use all of the features.
It’s not friendly for a new user.
The only thing I really like about it is the swiping feature, which it took from Tinder.
Paid Features
Both apps have paid premium features meant to land you more dates.
Bumble has the A-list while Tinder has Gold & Plus.
All start at $10 a month and pretty much get you the same thing.
You find out who likes you along with some small bonus features that free users don’t get.
Final Thoughts
If you had to choose one app, I would say to stick with Tinder. There are more users, it’s easier to use, and it’s still growing.
Download OkCupid if you want to expand your potential reach, but be prepared to be disappointed by the quality on the app.
